Clean Water for 3 Communities in Ghana | Drilling Completed

At Give Basic Needs, our mission is simple but powerful; to reduce suffering and amplify happiness by meeting essential human needs. One of the most critical of these needs is clean, accessible water, a resource that too many communities still live without.

We’re excited to share the successful drilling and pre-commissioning of three new boreholes in the rural communities of Jingbang, Nachem, and Loam in Northern Ghana. This milestone will bring life-changing access to clean water to over 2,000 people across these areas.

Why Clean Water Matters

In rural communities, the lack of clean water affects every aspect of daily life. Children often suffer from waterborne diseases, missing out on school and play. Women and girls typically bear the burden of walking long distances to fetch water—time that could be spent caring for their families, pursuing education, or working to support their households.

With the availability of clean water right in these communities, the impact is immediate and transformative:

What We’ve Done So Far

This project focused on the drilling and pre-commissioning phase, which means water has been found, tested, and confirmed safe. The groundwork has been laid, and the boreholes are ready for the next vital phase.

What’s Next?

We’re not stopping here. The installation of hand pumps for each borehole will be carried out in our next round of projects. Once completed, each community will have direct, daily access to clean water right where they live.
