To all our partners, contractors, collaborators, and especially our generous supporters, thank you. Your dedication and belief in the power of humanity have allowed Give Basic Needs to deliver critical, life-changing support across the globe throughout 2025. This year, marked by significant global instability and the systemic shock of withdrawn international aid, your commitment enabled us to double down on our mission, proving that “Small Acts Big Happy” can bridge the gap where large systems fail.
2025 Impact Highlights
In response to acute needs across Northern Ghana, Mexico, and the United States, our efforts resulted in a profound impact:
| Metric | Result for 2025 |
|---|---|
| Total Giving Events Executed | 12 Giving Events/Projects |
| Total Charitable Distributions | $41,112.97 |
| Estimated Individuals Directly Touched | Over 6,000 |
| New Clean Water Boreholes Commissioned | 4 (Damdaboli, Jingbang, Nachem, Loam) |
The total amount spent directly on our core charitable program activities — Food, Shelter, and Medical interventions — equaled $41,112.97 USD for the year 2025.
Impact by Pillar: Meeting Essential Needs
Our focused interventions provided basic necessities where they were lacking most, translating resources into tangible relief across our three pillars: Food, Shelter, and Medical.
Medical
Total Direct Event Costs: $16,283.10 USD
Medical efforts concentrated on prevention and foundational health infrastructure, directly addressing the endemic risks in Northern Ghana.
Key Events & Lives Touched:
We conducted major medical outreach events, including a screening for 1,500 individuals in Gmanicheri and a large community health event that served 864 individuals at our Tamale office.
Impact:
These critical screenings provided testing for major contagious diseases, such as malaria, Hepatitis B & C, and HIV/AIDS. Importantly, individuals who tested positive for HIV/AIDS received a warm handoff, including immediate counseling and referral pathways to ensure they were not left unsupported during a critical moment of diagnosis.
We also collaborate with the Ghana AIDS Commission to distribute essential test kits and condoms.
Clean Water Access:
This year saw the installation and commissioning of four new high-capacity boreholes in Damdaboli, Jingbang, Nachem, and Loam. Access to clean, potable water is vital for combating waterborne illnesses like typhoid fever. These water projects bring essential clean water to thousands, supporting community health as inadequate WASH services contribute significantly to the global disease burden.
Shelter
Total Direct Event Costs: $8,843.52 USD
Shelter initiatives provided immediate physical security and enduring community infrastructure in both the US and Ghana.
Key Events & Lives Touched:
In Ghana, we completed the construction of a solar-powered pavilion in Gaboni, benefiting approximately 500 residents. In the United States, we delivered urgent financial relief by contributing $40 in rent assistance to 117 households in an Anchorage, Alaska trailer park community.
Impact:
Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems remain a cost-effective solution for electricity access in Sub-Saharan Africa, enhancing community safety and promoting education. Rent support alleviates immediate financial insecurity, allowing families to allocate resources to other necessities.
Food
Total Direct Event Costs: $16,086.35 USD
Food distribution directly addressed nutritional insecurity, reinforcing overall health and well-being.
Key Events & Lives Touched:
We distributed 1,000 fresh pineapples during an event at the Kpatinga market square in Northern Ghana. In Coldfoot, Alaska, we served 75 warm, nourishing meals in harsh climatic conditions.
Impact:
Providing consistent nutritional support — such as rice, maize, and cooking oil — combats malnutrition and strengthens immune systems in vulnerable populations. These unexpected giving events bring comfort and hope where daily struggles are intense.
Looking Forward
In a world facing significant instability and aid shortfalls, the grassroots model of Give Basic Needs remains vital. Our mission to provide essential basic needs — Food, Shelter, and Medical services — is grounded in the powerful belief that every small gesture creates Big Happy. We look forward to continuing this crucial work in the coming year, sustained by the continued kindness and generosity of our supporters.
