The vibrant energy of young minds filled the air at Business Senior High School in Tamale, Ghana, as Give Basic Needs, along with dedicated volunteers and community partners, held a life-changing event – a free health screening for over 2,000 students.
But this wasn’t just about checking for illnesses like malaria, Hepatitis B & C, and HIV/AIDS. It was about empowering young people, fostering well-being, and building a brighter future.
Knowledge is Power
Imagine the anxiety of not knowing if you’re healthy, mainly when resources for proper medical care might be limited. Through free screenings and consultations, students received vital information about their health, enabling them to make informed decisions and seek further care if needed.
Beyond Physical Health
Access to sanitary pads can be a significant challenge for many young women, impacting their confidence and ability to participate fully in school activities. Recognizing this need, we proudly distributed 1,000 sanitary pads and educational sessions on breast self-exam techniques. These resources empowered young women to prioritize their health and well-being, fostering confidence and self-esteem.
