We’re thrilled to share the incredible success of our first-ever community health event held in Gusheigu Township this April! This initiative, driven by a commitment to bringing essential healthcare directly to the people, offered a range of free screenings and basic supplies, leaving a lasting positive impact on the constituency.
A Day of Wellness and Support
The event buzzed with activity as over 2,000 residents participated in various health screenings. Give Basic Needs and our collaborators distributed a significant amount of test kits, including:
- 2,000 for Malaria
- 1,500 for Hepatitis B
- 500 for Hepatitis C
- 500 for Typhoid
These screenings provided valuable insights into the community’s health, allowing for the early detection and treatment of potential illnesses.
Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle
The event wasn’t just about screenings—we also emphasized preventative measures. We organized a lively health walk to kick things off, encouraging residents to embrace physical activity as a cornerstone of good health. This stimulating activity brought people together and set the tone for a day focused on well-being.
Addressing Women’s Needs
Understanding the community’s specific needs, we also distributed 1,500 menstrual pads to women and young ladies. This seemingly simple gesture can make a significant difference, ensuring women and girls can participate fully in daily activities, including school, without limitations.
