In the heart of Uffiin, Northern Ghana, something remarkable happened—a story of water, hope, and the promise of a brighter future. On December 6, 2024, we completed a borehole drilling project that not only brought water to this vibrant community but also unleashed new possibilities for health, convenience, and progress.
The Journey to Clean Water
Drilling began with the goal of finding a sustainable water source close to the community, reducing the need for long treks to access clean water. Within 60 meters, we struck water—a moment of excitement and relief. But the journey didn’t stop there. Engineers decided to continue to 100 meters, uncovering an abundant water flow that exceeded all expectations.
The drilling team couldn’t contain their excitement. The engineers shared that the volume of water discovered was enough to support future mechanization, meaning that once Uffiin has access to electricity, the borehole could potentially be upgraded to pipe water directly into households. For now, the borehole provides a manual hand pump system, ensuring immediate access to safe and clean water.
