Give Basic Needs is pleased to announce a new leadership opportunity under our Northern Health Shield initiative. We are currently inviting applications for the position of Rural Health Hub Manager (RN Lead) to support our expanding community healthcare program in Gushegu Municipality in Ghana’s Northern Region.
This position is specifically open to qualified Female Registered Nurses who are passionate about delivering quality healthcare in rural and underserved communities.
Strengthening Rural Healthcare Through the Northern Health Shield
Across Northern Ghana, many communities continue to face serious barriers to accessing basic healthcare services. Long distances to hospitals, shortages of trained professionals, and limited infrastructure often leave families without timely medical support.
The Northern Health Shield initiative was created to address this challenge by building decentralized community Health Hubs that bring essential healthcare closer to the people who need it most. These hubs serve as the first point of contact for primary care, maternal and child health services, disease prevention programs, and community health education.
At the heart of each hub is a trained Registered Nurse who leads both the clinical and operational activities of the facility. The Rural Health Hub Manager (RN Lead) plays a critical role in ensuring that communities receive reliable, safe, and responsive healthcare services.
About the Role
The Rural Health Hub Manager (RN Lead) serves as both the primary clinical provider and the administrative head of the Health Hub. This leadership role requires strong clinical judgment, professional integrity, and the ability to operate independently while maintaining strict adherence to national healthcare standards.
The RN Lead will provide direct patient care, coordinate maternal and child health services, oversee disease prevention programs, and ensure that the facility operates efficiently and responsibly.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, the RN Lead will also manage the daily operations of the hub, including patient documentation, supply oversight, and reporting through digital health systems. This digital accountability helps ensure transparency, accurate health data collection, and better coordination with health authorities.
Through this model, Give Basic Needs is helping close the “last-mile healthcare gap” that prevents many rural communities from accessing timely care.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered General Nurse (RGN) who is ready to step into a meaningful leadership role in rural healthcare delivery.
Qualified applicants should possess:
- A valid license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of Ghana
- Evidence of completed National Service
- Strong clinical judgment and adherence to Ghana Health Service Standard Treatment Guidelines
- Digital literacy and the ability to document patient care electronically
- The ability to work independently while leading a growing rural health hub
Fluency in English and local languages such as Dagbani will be considered an advantage, as effective communication with local communities is essential to the success of the program.
A Leadership Opportunity That Creates Real Impact
This role offers more than a traditional clinical posting. It is an opportunity to lead a community-based health system designed to prevent illness, strengthen local healthcare delivery, and empower rural populations.
By serving as the RN Lead, successful candidates will directly contribute to improving health outcomes for families in some of the most underserved communities in Northern Ghana.
Through the Northern Health Shield initiative, Give Basic Needs continues to invest in sustainable healthcare models that combine infrastructure, community engagement, and professional leadership to build healthier and more resilient communities.
